Start with a feeling
A creative brief can be simple: a few colors you return to, a room you love, or the kind of atmosphere you want to live with. References help, but they do not need to dictate the finished work.
Give the work a frame
Think about dimensions, orientation, and where the piece would hang. A photograph of the room and a few written observations are often more useful than a long list of requirements.
Leave room for interpretation
An imagined commission would move from a shared brief to palette studies and a composition conversation. The balance is between a clear direction and enough freedom for the work to develop.
Try a studio brief
The inquiry worksheet lets you collect your thoughts locally. This fictional studio does not accept paid commissions. Browse the selected work to find a starting point.
